What you will be asked to pay
Your consultation fee will be confirmed when you book your appointment. The consultation fee covers your appointment only and does not include the cost of surgery.
Because every patient and procedure is different, surgical fees can only be confirmed following an in person consultation. If you decide to proceed, you will receive a detailed, itemised quote before making any decision about surgery.
If you require a second consultation for cosmetic surgery, this will be booked as a separate appointment and a further consultation fee will apply.
For medically indicated consultations, a Medicare rebate may be available where you have a valid referral. Medicare rebates do not generally apply to cosmetic consultations.
If surgery is offered
You will receive an itemised quote. Unless stated otherwise in that quote, it is intended to cover:
- The surgeon’s fee for the planned operation
- The anaesthetist’s fee (quoted by the anaesthetist)
- Hospital or day-surgery charges
- Implants or devices, if they form part of the plan
- Surgical garments specified in the plan
- Routine post-operative visits in the early recovery period
Quotes are valid for a stated period. They change if the operation changes. They do not usually include extra nights in hospital, treatment of complications, revisional surgery, pathology, or prescriptions, these are identified where they can be.
Medicare and private health insurance
Some reconstructive, reduction, skin-cancer and hand operations have Medicare item numbers when criteria are met. Private health insurance may contribute to hospital costs for eligible procedures. Cosmetic surgery is generally not covered. Eligibility is assessed individually; a website cannot confirm a rebate.
What we do not do
This practice does not offer time-limited discounts, “free” consultations bundled with a procedure, gifts, or financing slogans that pressure a decision. Those forms of advertising are not compatible with the Medical Board’s cosmetic surgery guidelines.
